ZetaChain has submitted a governance proposal to wind down its own layer-1 blockchain (base network) and migrate to the Solana ecosystem. If approved by ZETA holders, existing ZETA would be converted one-for-one into a Solana-based SPL token (Solana’s token standard), with its name, ticker, total supply and lockup schedule unchanged and no additional issuance. ZETA circulating on Ethereum and BNB Chain would not be directly affected. The migration would involve transferring user assets and gradually shutting down the existing network rather than using a simple token bridge. ZetaChain said Solana’s approximately 0.4-second transaction finality and approximately $0.001 median fee would support AI agents that need rapid, inexpensive data and service-fee transactions. The proposal also covers Anuma, ZetaChain’s private AI service with more than 300,000 users. Users would deposit ZETA for Anuma credits, with the same model later extended to other Solana-based AI applications and agents. Voting began on Sept. 17 and was scheduled to run for 72 hours, through Sept. 20; if the proposal fails, the current system remains in place.
