MultiversX has paused its mainnet after confirming that an attacker attempted to exploit an atomicity issue in the network’s virtual-machine layer, creating invalid state changes onchain. Engineers have prepared a repair and are testing it in a shadow-fork environment. If validation succeeds, MultiversX will coordinate deployment with validators, exchanges and infrastructure partners. The team is also assessing a targeted recovery process intended to preserve finalized transaction history and legitimate user states while addressing only invalid changes associated with the incident. Users do not need to take action, but the project has told them not to submit or rebroadcast transactions and not to deposit or withdraw EGLD or ESDT through exchanges or cross-chain bridges. Before the incident, EGLD traded near $4.08, down 9.12% over seven days, with a market capitalization of about $125.88 million, fully diluted valuation of approximately $125.9 million and 24-hour volume of roughly $66.02 million, according to the market snapshot in the earlier report.
