President Donald Trump said he will create an AI Force and soon appoint an AI czar, presenting the initiative as a way to promote US artificial intelligence growth while using existing criminal and civil law to address misconduct. He said the body would be modeled on the Space Force, but disclosed no budget, organizational structure, legal authority or candidate for the czar role. Trump said AI could eventually account for as much as 25% of US GDP and argued that the United States leads China in developing the technology. The position has been vacant since David Sacks left the White House AI and crypto post in March; Sacks remains co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
