INTERPOL is expanding its Silver Notice programme, which enables police authorities in participating countries to seek information about assets potentially connected to criminal investigations. The programme has involved 82 countries since its pilot began in January 2025 and has helped identify at least €36 million ($41 million) in assets. It covers cryptocurrency, cash, real estate, vehicles, businesses and other property within INTERPOL’s 196-member organization. Members are scheduled to vote on formal adoption at the General Assembly in Hong Kong in November 2026. Silver Notices support cross-border information gathering but do not independently trace blockchain transactions or authorize asset seizures. The mechanism can complement blockchain analytics and other investigative tools, including in cases involving alleged cryptocurrency fraud.
