Qatar is mediating between the United States and Iran to revive negotiations over navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, Bloomberg Markets reported, as indirect contacts continue amid a fragile ceasefire. The effort follows Iran’s presentation of seven conditions for opening talks, including an end to hostilities, the release of frozen Iranian funds and the lifting of an American naval blockade. The Strait of Hormuz carries about one-fifth of global oil and LNG trade, making a restoration of navigation rights central to energy-market and regional-security concerns. Market pricing has slightly increased the perceived likelihood of a US-Iran agreement on Hormuz navigation by Sept. 30, with 11 days remaining until that deadline.
