Hyundai Motor's share price has fallen approximately 53% from its June 1 intraday peak of ₩783,000, closing at ₩366,500 on Sept. 18. The decline has prompted major South Korean brokerages to reduce their price targets, with Samsung Securities cutting its forecast to ₩500,000, the lowest among major firms. The one-month average target has fallen from more than ₩900,000 to ₩667,222, after some firms had set targets as high as ₩1.2 million during the first half of the year. A full-day strike by Hyundai Motor's union, held amid stalled wage negotiations and backed by a joint rally of Korean Metal Workers’ Union members on Aug. 21, has added to concerns about third-quarter earnings. Analysts also cite the stronger won, slowing auto-demand growth in a high-interest-rate environment and weakening competitiveness in South Korea, the United States and India. Expectations for Hyundai Motor's physical AI robotics business have faded as the company emphasizes autonomous driving, while second-half launches including the Genesis GV90 have yet to generate a strong market response. More than 40% of 120-day trading volume occurred above ₩600,000, indicating substantial losses for many investors who bought near the peak.
