Bitcoin climbed from $75,000 to almost $82,000 within days despite a failed U.S. Senate cloture vote on the CLARITY Act, a Federal Reserve rate hike and a Bank of Japan rate increase. The rally, which pushed bitcoin above $80,000 for the first time in two weeks, stalled near $82,000 after reports of escalating Middle East hostilities. Bitcoin was trading just above $80,000, with its market capitalization at $1.61 trillion and its dominance near 59%. Saudi authorities said they intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired at Riyadh on Saturday evening, while the U.S. State Department warned that fighting involving Iran-backed Houthis could escalate rapidly and urged Americans to reconsider travel through the region. Daily Iran News claimed Iran had placed its armed forces on Code 100, and Trump and Israel’s Netanyahu reportedly shortened overseas or weekend trips. A TD Sequential indicator also shifted from a buy signal near $75,000 to a sell signal at $81,500, according to Ali Martinez. Most major altcoins declined, led by ZEC and XMR, while Avalanche rose more than 11% to above $9.60. Total crypto market capitalization fell by about $40 billion to $2.740 trillion.
