South Korea will brief the National Assembly on the first project under its US$350 billion investment program in the United States. The Ministry of Trade and Industry will report at 9:30 a.m. on the 22nd to the Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee, while the Finance and Economic Planning Committee is discussing a separate closed-door session the same day. The briefing was postponed from the 17th as Seoul and Washington continued consultations, including over Alaska LNG and an equity investment in a U.S. nuclear power company. The Encinal combined-cycle gas power plant in Texas is under strong consideration as the program’s first project. The package includes up to US$200 billion in strategic investment, with annual remittances capped at US$20 billion.
