Four men allegedly forced their way into a family home in Vendin-le-Vieil at about 4 a.m., restrained a cryptocurrency industry worker, his partner and their two children, and compelled the father to transfer roughly EUR40,000 in cryptocurrency. The attackers allegedly beat the father, struck his 12-year-old daughter with car keys and remained in phone contact with a fifth person during the invasion. French judicial police and the French Anti-Cybercrime Office are investigating the organized-group kidnapping and extortion case, including tracing the transfer and determining how the family was selected. The incident adds to a wider wave of wrench attacks against cryptocurrency holders in France, which accounts for nearly 80% of documented physical crypto attacks in Europe.
