Zcash's ZEC token fell to $1,429 on Sunday, about 5% below its $1,590 year-to-date high reached on Sept. 18, ending a series of double-digit daily gains. Grayscale said its Zcash ETF, ZCSH, will undergo a 3-for-1 forward share split effective Sept. 30, reducing the price per share without changing the value of investors' holdings. The fund launched on Aug. 25 and held $914 million in net assets as of Sept. 18, after earlier reporting put assets at about $890 million on Sept. 17. ZEC remained up 31% over seven days and more than 200% from $445 on June 22, though its pullback pushed total market capitalization below $25 billion. Attention has also shifted to Zcash governance as its Development Fund, which directs part of block rewards to protocol work, expires in 2028. Dragonfly Managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi proposed ending the fund at expiration, while Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang argued continued funding is necessary to address risks including quantum computing and AI-driven surveillance. AngelList co-founder Naval Ravikant rejected continued off-chain funding in response to Huang's position.
