Samsung Electronics has broken ground on a ₩240 billion FläktGroup HVAC production line at the third campus of its Gwangju manufacturing complex. The 21,800-square-meter facility is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in early 2028 and will become FläktGroup’s 15th global production site and its first new manufacturing base since Samsung acquired the Swedish climate solutions company last year. The line will produce cooling systems for AI data centers, including coolant distribution units, fan wall units and computer room air handlers, as well as air handling units for large buildings, semiconductor and battery plants and other commercial facilities. The investment expands FläktGroup’s production footprint beyond its concentrated European and U.S. base to serve South Korea and East Asia. Samsung previously opened a FläktGroup plant in Pune, India, in August, with annual capacity of up to 6,500 units. The company plans to link FläktGroup’s HVAC technology with its manufacturing capabilities and SmartThings Pro B2B control platform, while building an integrated business covering development, production, installation and maintenance. The Gwangju Plant, established in 1989, will become a hybrid manufacturing hub for AI appliances and next-generation HVAC solutions. The latest report values the ₩240 billion investment at approximately $174 million, compared with earlier reported estimates of $179 million and $173.3 million.
