The first cleanroom at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster is scheduled to begin operations in February 2027, but access-road construction and industrial-water infrastructure risk falling behind the production timeline. The Federation of Korean Industries said on the 21st that it had identified 41 challenges affecting companies in advanced industries, including 21 related to semiconductors, nine to biotechnology, four to batteries and three to robotics. In Yongin, SK hynix’s first fab and construction of a second fab are expected to increase logistics traffic, intensifying calls to expand the Wonsam-Mapyeong section of a key access road. Water-reuse projects also face high costs and lengthy approvals. Samsung Electronics is pursuing wastewater purification and reuse from Hwaseong and Osan, while the FKI is seeking clearer national funding eligibility. The federation also called for more effective investment tax credits, including cash refunds or transfers for unused credits, and regulatory exceptions allowing humanoid-robot developers to use raw video and audio data in approved demonstration zones.
