ShinyHunters, a digital extortion group known for aggressive data theft campaigns, said it hijacked rival cybercrime gang cl0p’s dark web site on Friday after finding a vulnerability in cl0p’s software. The group told Reuters it gained broad control of cl0p’s infrastructure, while cl0p did not respond to repeated requests for comment. The site was unreachable on Sunday after displaying the message "Domain Seized By ShinyHunters" the previous day, according to a screenshot preserved by eCrime.ch. Two cybersecurity experts said the confrontation appeared genuine. The dispute reportedly stems from an Oracle E-Business Suite zero-day (previously unknown software flaw) that cl0p allegedly used to steal data from more than 100 companies, although ShinyHunters said it found the vulnerability first. Both groups have been linked to major recent data theft campaigns, including cl0p’s 2023 MOVEit attack affecting tens of millions of people across more than 600 companies.
