Hana Bank issued a $100 million, five-year foreign-currency digital bond through Euroclear’s Digital Financial Market Infrastructure, completing issuance, registration, allocation and payment settlement on Sept. 18, the issue date. The T+0 transaction reduced settlement from the three-to-five business days typical for conventional foreign-currency bonds. Hana became the first Korean institution to directly issue a digital bond on Euroclear’s D-FMI and achieved the first T+0 settlement in South Korea’s foreign-currency bond market, although other Korean issuers had previously sold digital bonds through different infrastructure. Standard Chartered acted as sole lead manager and bookrunner, while Citi served as DNN and fiscal agent. Investors can hold and trade the security through existing Euroclear accounts and systems. The deal comes as South Korea targets February 2027 for a broader tokenized-securities framework, while Hana also participates in the Bank of Korea’s 24-hour won settlement pilot.
