KB Kookmin Card has joined Mastercard’s Global Asset Collaboration Program, or CPP, and plans technical verification of stablecoin payment infrastructure. The card issuer will test linking its KB Pay service with the blockchain wallet of global crypto exchange Coinbase. The tests will cover payment approval, settlement, cancellations and refunds in stablecoins, along with transaction-status synchronization and exception handling. The work is intended to help KB Kookmin Card develop payment technology and infrastructure for the stablecoin market, while preparing processes ahead of potential changes to South Korean laws and regulations. ZDNet Korea reported the participation on September 21; an earlier account attributed the report to ETNews.
