Fireblocks is expanding its South Korean digital-asset infrastructure relationships through separate work with custody firm BDACS and a new memorandum with Kakao Pay and KakaoBank. Kakao Pay and KakaoBank will assess stablecoin-focused digital-asset distribution frameworks that meet domestic regulatory, security and service requirements before conducting proof-of-concept tests with Fireblocks. The agreement announces no stablecoin, investment, commercial product or deployment date. KakaoBank CEO Yun Ho-young and Kakao Pay CEO Shin Won-keun jointly lead Kakao Group's Stablecoin Task Force. The Fireblocks arrangement follows Kakao Group's July memorandum with Circle covering stablecoin payments, blockchain settlement and digital-asset infrastructure, although no won-denominated stablecoin was launched or issuance model confirmed. The work comes as the Financial Services Commission and Bank of Korea continue contributing to South Korea's unfinished stablecoin and wider digital-asset framework.
