U.S. retail investors are seeking early exposure to Anthropic and OpenAI after SpaceX’s June 2026 IPO became the largest U.S. IPO on record and allocated as much as 30% of its shares to individual investors. Anthropic confidentially filed an S-1 on June 1, targeting a Nasdaq listing by November, while OpenAI filed IPO paperwork on June 8 but has moved its public debut to 2027. Anthropic’s valuation discussions have reached about $2 trillion, compared with a roughly $965 billion private valuation after a recent $65 billion funding round; its annual revenue run-rate has exceeded $100 billion. Investors are using brokerages, special purpose vehicles, private-market funds and platforms such as Access IPOs and AngelList’s USVC fund, but face high fees, lockups, opaque ownership structures and limited liquidity. Anthropic has warned against unauthorized secondary trading and said transfers outside sanctioned sales, including through Forge Global and Hiive, may be invalidated.
