Debt.com announced the winners of its fourth annual FinTalk Awards on Sept. 21, 2026, recognizing creators and organizations that help people save money and pursue financial stability. Emily Egashira was named Financial Creator of the Year, while Jim Wang won for best short-form content, Leila Kartforosh for best long-form content and Space Coast Credit Union for best credit-union education. The winners represent Washington state, Maryland, Georgia and Florida. Debt.com launched the awards in 2023 to highlight up-and-coming financial-content creators. Debt.com president Don Silvestri said the awards continue to introduce audiences to more financial creators and argued that the winning work challenges criticism of social media as a place to learn about saving and budgeting. Egashira said the award was especially meaningful after she nearly quit three months into her creator career. Her background includes childhood poverty, multiple jobs and severe frugality; she is now a millionaire who still uses coupons. Wang launched Best Wallet Hacks more than a decade ago after working as a software engineer and graduating from Carnegie Mellon University and Johns Hopkins University with $35,000 in student-loan debt. Kartforosh, a microbiologist, started Debt Over It after paying off $82,000 in debt, including student loans, credit cards and a car loan she had co-signed for a boyfriend who later stopped making payments. Space Coast Credit Union uses employee and member stories alongside its animated Watchdog mascot to promote brand trust, security awareness and financial education. Debt.com describes itself as a consumer resource connecting Americans with vetted financial professionals and educational tools for debt relief and money management.
