Google has opened pre-orders for Googlebook, a premium laptop category built around Gemini AI and designed to link Android phones more closely with desktop computing. Models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo range from $899 to $1,299, with every device offering at least 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of SSD storage, a touch-enabled OLED display and up to 14 hours of battery life. Buyers can choose Intel Core Ultra Series 3 "Panther Lake" or Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors, while MediaTek versions are reportedly planned for later. Googlebook runs a hybrid environment supporting Android apps and ChromeOS features, including access to files and applications used on Pixel phones. Gemini is integrated across the operating system, while the Magic Pointer AI cursor is intended to improve navigation across apps, files and devices. Purchases include 12 months of Google AI Pro with Gemini Advanced access and 5TB of cloud storage, three months of YouTube Premium, and limited-time Adobe Photoshop and CapCut subscriptions. The launch revives Google's push into premium laptops after the Pixelbook line was discontinued in 2022, using major PC makers rather than wholly in-house hardware. Google has not disclosed sales projections or expected revenue from Googlebook as it competes with Apple and premium Windows laptops.
