Kevin O’Leary said Bitcoin could eventually reach $1 million if developers address the risk that quantum computers could forge wallet signatures, while questioning Ethereum’s prospects as the standard blockchain across the 11 sectors of the S&P 500. Speaking at Avalanche Summit, he said institutional investors limit Bitcoin exposure to about 3% because of quantum uncertainty and argued that industries may choose different blockchains. He cited Solana’s transaction speed and Avalanche’s customizable subnets as examples of networks that could attract adoption, and said the blockchain selected by the first major exchange to tokenize assets could benefit sharply. His comments reversed his earlier view that Bitcoin and Ethereum could capture roughly 97% to 97.5% of crypto’s volatility, yield or upside. Chainspect data showed Solana processing more than 1,262 transactions per second, compared with 22.44 for Ethereum and 10.40 for Avalanche. Bitcoin rose 6% to $85,700 as crypto markets advanced broadly, while Hyperliquid led weekly onchain protocol revenue with $15.1 million.
