Coinbase’s tokenized stock offering on Base has reached 46,700 asset holders, a 9,697% increase in one month, according to Token Terminal. The platform initially launched with four equities on August 24 and expanded to ten by September 4, with tokenized versions of Nvidia, Apple and Tesla among the leading assets. Available to eligible non-U.S. users, the tokens represent 1:1 claims on shares held by a regulated custodian and can be traded on-chain, used in DeFi applications and pledged as collateral for loans on platforms such as Aave. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said the product was in its early stages but gaining traction. Token Terminal valued the broader tokenized stock market at $3.4 billion, with more than 4 million asset holders and $70 billion in monthly volume. The SEC has also created a five-year temporary regulatory pathway for certain tokenized U.S. stocks traded on blockchain-based venues.
