U.S. cryptocurrency ownership declined from last year’s peak, with 11% of investors reporting holdings, down from 17% in 2025. Ownership among U.S. adults overall fell to 9% from 14%. Gallup’s June 1-15 survey covered 2,043 adults and 1,048 investors with at least $10,000 in investable assets. Younger male investors aged 18 to 49 led ownership at 24%, despite falling from 33% in 2025, while upper-income investors recorded 15% ownership versus 7% among middle-income and 4% among lower-income investors. Risk perceptions remained high: 63% of investors called cryptocurrency very risky and 31% somewhat risky, while 47% of current owners described it as very risky. The retreat followed Bitcoin’s rise above $100,000 in 2025 and subsequent loss of nearly half its value. BlockchainReporter also cited a $4 billion decline in USDT supply as evidence of investors exiting crypto and said broader adoption remains an open question tied to interface challenges rather than demand.
