Georgia Power and Google announced an agreement to support proposed extended power uprates at Georgia Power's owned nuclear units at Plants Vogtle and Hatch. The work could add approximately 96 megawatts of capacity for Georgia Power customers, while Google's subscription to the new Nuclear Uprate tariff is projected to generate approximately $900 million in customer benefits over the units' operating lives. The agreement requires approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC), Georgia's utility regulator, and was filed under Dockets 44280 and 56002. Google would receive Zero-Emission Credits (ZECs), which represent the carbon-free attributes of nuclear generation, while the structure is designed to protect non-participating customers from incremental uprate costs. Georgia Power said the program builds on its renewable subscription offerings and follows an EPU for Vogtle 1 and 2 approved in the 2025 Integrated Resource Plan.
