Celltrion plans to increase output at its Songdo campus in Incheon by about 15% this year as its third plant reaches stable commercial production. Output at the facility is expected to reach 128 batches, up 142% from a year earlier. The company said it has renewed EU-GMP certification from the European Medicines Agency for drug substance and drug product facilities across Songdo plants No. 1 through No. 3, which together have capacity of 250,000 liters. Celltrion is also expanding a high-titer process, which increases antibody protein production within facilities of the same size, and is bringing more drug product manufacturing in-house. A new Songdo drug product plant is undergoing installation and operational qualification after receiving building occupancy approval in June. Separately, Celltrion is transferring technology to its 66,000-liter Branchburg, New Jersey, facility, where it plans to produce its own products alongside contract manufacturing for Eli Lilly. The company plans to coordinate its South Korean and U.S. facilities to allocate production according to product demand.
