WSI shares rose sharply after subsidiary Easy MediBot registered a patent for its U-BOT uterine manipulation surgical robot in 19 European countries. The stock was trading at 1,545 Korean won on the KOSDAQ at 9:17 a.m. on September 22, up 356 won, or 29.94%, from the previous trading day. The European Patent Office issued a registration decision in November last year, after which Easy MediBot completed national registrations in 18 European Union member states and the UK. U-BOT is designed to position and stabilize the uterus during laparoscopic and robot-assisted gynecological procedures, allowing surgeons to control it directly through voice recognition, remote control and foot-pedal functions rather than relying on surgical assistants. The device is preparing for electrical and mechanical safety testing required for domestic product approval. Easy MediBot aims to commercialize it by the first half of 2027 after usability evaluations and the approval process. The company has also registered four patents domestically, filed another application this year for a modular replaceable medical robot, and filed four patent cases overseas, three of which have been registered. A company official said Easy MediBot is securing rights in key target countries before overseas expansion and plans to begin preliminary preparations for overseas certifications from early 2027, allowing it to pursue FDA approval and CE certification after domestic approval.
