Former first lady Kim Keon Hee’s prison term was reduced to five years from seven after the Seoul High Court acquitted her on charges involving a Vacheron Constantin watch and a replica of Sehando. The court upheld convictions over gifts that it found were tied to requests for influence, including jewelry worth 103.8 million won from Seohee Construction Chairman Lee Bong-kwan, a gold turtle figurine, a Dior bag and other items, and a Lee Ufan painting. It ordered confiscation of the painting, gold turtle and Van Cleef & Arpels diamond necklace, as well as forfeiture of 24.4 million won. Kim’s lawyers and the special counsel both said they would appeal to the Supreme Court. The ruling follows a separate four-year sentence that Kim appealed over gifts from the Unification Church and stock-price manipulation.
