Daewoo Engineering & Construction is broadening its overseas business beyond conventional construction into nuclear power, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and technology-linked infrastructure. The builder is targeting opportunities across Europe, the Middle East and emerging Asian markets while using its Czech Dukovany experience and relationships in Vietnam and Indonesia to pursue integrated developments combining large nuclear plants, small modular reactors (SMRs), LNG facilities and AI data centers. Chairman Jung Won-ju met Hanoi Mayor Vu Dai Thang in Seoul on Sept. 8 to discuss investment and infrastructure opportunities. Daewoo E&C is also seeking participation in Vietnam's revived Ninh Thuan nuclear project and LNG terminal developments, while proposing an integrated SMR, LNG power and AI data-center model in Indonesia. The company has completed about 30 nuclear-related projects, seven Indonesian projects worth $540 million and LNG construction work including Nigeria LNG Train 7. It is expanding engagement with governments, project owners and businesses from the planning stage, and is broadening its nuclear portfolio to include SMRs and decommissioning.
