Kakao Games said the number of people affected by a personal data breach rose to 243 after investigators identified 103 additional customers using its Partners and RINK services. The company had initially disclosed on September 16 that 140 customers were affected by abnormal external access. The estimated attack window ran from 10:44 p.m. on September 12 to 7:37 p.m. on September 13. Exposed data included third-party identification codes or IDs for Partners and Kakao Games identification codes and some country codes for RINK. Kakao Games said the codes posed a low risk of misuse because they were difficult to link to specific individuals, and that passwords were not included even in some cases involving externally linked IDs. The company confirmed the initial leak on September 14, identified the additional exposure on September 20 and announced it on September 21. It reported the findings to relevant authorities and continued its investigation and user-protection measures.
