A Bitcoin options trader paid $3.17 million to establish a long call butterfly expiring October 30, designed to generate its maximum payoff if Bitcoin settles near $95,000. The five-block trade bought $90,000 and $100,000 calls while selling twice as many $95,000 calls, creating a positive gross payoff only between $90,000 and $100,000. Bitcoin traded around $85,000 as the position was opened, while technical analysis pointed to limited apparent resistance before $98,000. Glassnode said Bitcoin had regained all of its long-term moving averages after roughly 300 days below them, and its Monday close stood above the May high. Demand for upside calls increased short-term risk reversals, while U.S.-listed crypto exchange-traded funds recorded more than $1.9 billion of inflows in 24 hours, including $1.36 billion for Bitcoin products.
