Meta’s Muse AI agent is being promoted as a tool that can review users’ finances, identify unnecessary expenses and execute savings-related tasks with limited direction. Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang has encouraged users to share results through the #MuseMoneyChallenge since Muse launched on September 8. Reported examples include $3,500 in annual car-insurance savings, a refunded year-long book subscription, a $200 Verizon gift card and $1,250 saved at a car dealership. Many posts came from Meta employees, and the company’s press team did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment outside regular business hours. Muse reached No. 1 among downloaded apps in the US Apple and Google Play stores, ahead of TikTok and ChatGPT. The agent’s expansion into phone calls, subscriptions, refunds and purchases also faces resistance: Amazon blocked Muse from placing orders, saying that use of the program violated its terms of use.
