HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the shipbuilding intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai, said on the 22nd it had signed a ₩336.2 billion ($246.7 million) contract with a European shipping company for two roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels. The ships, which carry wheeled cargo such as vehicles and trailers, will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered by Nov. 30, 2029. The contract equals 1.91% of last year’s revenue. The deal lifted HD Korea Shipbuilding’s cumulative orders this year to 169 vessels worth $18.71 billion, or 80.3% of its $23.31 billion annual target. The nine-month total has already exceeded last year’s full-year orders of $18.55 billion. This year’s orders include LNG carriers, container ships, LPG, ammonia and liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, crude oil tankers, petrochemical product carriers, pure car and truck carriers, RoRo vessels and other ships including an icebreaker.
