Meta’s Muse personal AI agent has become the leading app on Apple’s App Store, ahead of ChatGPT, after attracting more than 2.5 million downloads in the two weeks since its unveiling. The app’s rise comes as consumers increasingly use AI tools to research products, compare prices and search for deals, while Meta expands Muse’s ability to complete purchases through integrations with PayPal, Stripe Link and Shopify’s Shop Pay. PayPal Holdings shares rose 1.30% to $53.31 following its checkout integration. Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping on its marketplace, citing security and user-experience concerns. The differing approaches underscore the growing competition over agentic shopping, in which AI systems can act for users across product discovery, checkout and other tasks, subject to user approval.
