PayPal is working to enable customers globally to use Meta's Muse agent for shopping and checkout, expanding the payment company's role in emerging agentic commerce. Meta launched Muse on Sept. 8, 2026, as a personal AI agent that can browse the web, fill out forms and make purchases inside the isolated Muse Secure VM. Muse initially routes transactions through Stripe's Link service using one-time virtual cards and is expected to support Shopify's Shop Pay. The service is available only in the U.S. to users aged 18 and older through apps and the web, with subscriptions ranging from $20 to $100 per month. Muse quickly reached the top of the U.S. Apple App Store rankings, but Amazon blocked it from shopping on its platform effective Sept. 21, 2026, citing privacy and security conditions. The development raises questions about authorization, fraud, liability and consumer protection when software, rather than a person, completes a transaction. PayPal is also developing separate AI commerce products, including in-chat payment features. Jin10 previously reported the partnership, citing Odaily Planet Daily.
