Barrick Mining Corporation’s North American unit has signed a multi-year strategic partnership with Avathon, formerly known as SparkCognition, to deploy the technology company’s Autonomy Platform across its gold assets. Announced on September 23, 2026, the agreement covers exploration, mine planning, production logistics, supply chain operations, equipment reliability and geological analysis, and could generate up to $20 million annually for Avathon. Barrick plans to complete an IPO of a minority stake in its North American operations before the end of 2026, including Nevada Gold Mines, its joint venture with Newmont, and Pueblo Viejo in the Dominican Republic. The division produced approximately 2.0 million attributable ounces of gold in 2025. The IPO preparation follows Barrick’s resolution of a dispute with Newmont, which included a $1.95 billion payment. The partnership adds an operational-modernization element to Barrick’s strategy of concentrating on large, long-life assets in stable jurisdictions. The newer announcement names Mark Hill as Avathon CEO, while earlier topic information identified Pervinder Johar as CEO.
