  • The companies plan an institutional tokenized money market fund on OP Mainnet.
  • Korean amended securities rules take effect on Feb. 4, 2027.

KB Securities, Securitize and the Optimism Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop and distribute tokenized securities for institutional investors in South Korea. Their first planned product is a tokenized money market fund on OP Mainnet, followed by a proposed fund based on a KB Asset Management flagship strategy. KB Securities would provide institutional distribution and securities-market expertise, Securitize would supply tokenization infrastructure, and Optimism would provide blockchain technology. The agreement is not a product launch, and neither product has a stated launch date. KB Securities said tokenized stocks, American depositary receipts, corporate bonds and Korean government bonds could be considered as local rules evolve. South Korea's Financial Services Commission has said selected privately pooled money market funds and institutional bonds would be eligible under the first stage of amended securities rules taking effect on Feb. 4, 2027.
