With U.S. national debt surpassing $40 trillion, some investors are treating gold, the Swiss franc and BTC as scarce, non-dollar hedges against currency debasement rather than as bets on U.S. crypto legislation, Neoclassic Capital co-founder Michael Bucella said on CNBC’s Power Lunch. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which cleared the House in 2025, failed to advance in the Senate this month amid disputes over enforcement authority. Bitcoin and Ether ETFs briefly recorded hundreds of millions of dollars in outflows after the setback, but Bucella said Bitcoin ETF inflows rebounded to roughly $1 billion in a single day soon afterward. He also said the emergence of onshore BTC-backed lending products can help holders obtain liquidity without selling, while cautioning that Bitcoin remains a risk asset exposed to broader macroeconomic conditions.
