Alibaba Cloud plans to open its first cloud regions in Turkey, Finland and the Netherlands within 12 months, while expanding data-center capacity in Malaysia, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, France and Hong Kong. The company, which operates 107 availability zones across 31 regions, said the buildout will bring localized cloud and AI services closer to customers and partners. At its Apsara Conference in Hangzhou, Alibaba Cloud introduced Smart Studio, Smart Fusion and Smart Video, and highlighted enterprise deployments of its Qwen AI models. The expansion forms part of Alibaba's 2025 commitment to spend $53 billion on AI over three years, amid competition with Western cloud providers and continuing scrutiny of Chinese technology companies.
