Booyoung Group's long-delayed mixed-use development near Seoul Forest Station in Seongdong District is moving forward after Seoul's 17th Architectural Committee approved the plan on Sept. 22, with the Seoul Metropolitan Government announcing the decision on Sept. 23. The project will rise 49 floors above eight basement levels and include 383 residential units, 622 lodging rooms and a 903-seat performance hall. The hall will connect to Understage Avenue in front of Seoul Forest Station on the Suin-Bundang Line. The plan also provides an observatory for residents on the lodging facility's 46th floor and 133 publicly accessible parking spaces on the third basement level. The committee also approved the modernization of the National Medical Center, expansion of the Central Trauma Center and Central Infectious Disease Hospital, and remodeling that will increase the Munjeong Keonyoung apartment complex from 545 to 610 units. The medical project will raise total beds from 499 to 776 while preserving Gyeongseong Elementary School for public and medical-support uses.
