Samsung C&T Engineering and Construction Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with GE Vernova, Hitachi and Synthos Green Energy (SGE) to develop the European market for the BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR). The partnership combines GVH's nuclear technology, Samsung C&T's global engineering, procurement and construction capabilities, and SGE's local European business development. SGE has secured a decision-in-principle for 26 BWRX-300 units in Poland and is developing three sites for the first 14 units. In the United Kingdom, the partners are pursuing a 14-unit, 4.2-gigawatt fleet and have entered an in-depth review of the preliminary regulatory assessment by the state nuclear agency. The companies said the alliance could support Europe's energy security and industrial competitiveness.
