About 120 workers at Naver Z, operator of the metaverse platform Zepeto, staged a full-day strike on the 23rd after management declined to discuss their demands over a salary freeze. The participants represented roughly 70% of the union’s membership at the company. The action followed a four-hour strike on the 9th seeking a 5.3% wage increase, withdrawal of the unilateral freeze and an explanation of Naver Z’s financial condition. About 20 union members held an online rally, criticizing CEO Kim Chang-wook, who also leads Snow, Kream and Cake. Naver Z and Cake have frozen salaries this year. The union said it would send public inquiries to Kim and Lee Hae-jin after the Chuseok holiday and could begin a five-day strike on the 19th of next month if management remains unresponsive.
