HyperLiquid, an on-chain platform for perpetual contracts, has listed contracts on Chinese semiconductor firm ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CMXT, extending its reach beyond crypto assets and intensifying scrutiny from global regulators. The listing has driven more discussion in domestic markets than the platform's HYPE token airdrop or crude-oil contracts during the February 2026 Iran conflict. Founded by a former Wall Street high-frequency trading engineer, HyperLiquid has received no external venture-capital financing and operates a proprietary Layer-1 blockchain with a fully on-chain order book. Its expansion reflects a broader shift in derivatives markets as offshore on-chain venues use new mechanisms and asset coverage to challenge traditional regulatory frameworks.
