Doubao denied reports that its General Session team faced mass layoffs or was being marginalized, saying the changes were an organizational restructuring intended to improve user experience. Public relations head Liu Xing said the team had fewer than 50 members, with 11 people reassigned and three departing, while most personnel continued dialogue-related work in new divisions. The clarification follows a report that the team could shrink by about half as Doubao’s commercialization bottleneck and high multimodal costs push ByteDance toward enterprise, productivity, e-commerce and lifestyle services. Doubao’s daily active users have surpassed 200 million.
