WeChat Security Center has intensified enforcement against accounts promoting pyramid schemes and fraud disguised as blockchain, virtual-currency and stablecoin investments. Scammers use promises of high returns tied to fake national projects, group chats to recruit downlines, and malicious links or fraudulent apps to target users. WeChat said penalties will depend on the severity of violations and can range from group bans and feature restrictions to full account suspension. It urged users to reject low-investment, high-return offers, avoid recruiting others or using unfamiliar links and apps, and report suspicious activity through the WeChat complaint function or Tencent Guardian.
