A revised Seoul development plan would add 244 officetel units and 55 senior housing units to the CBS broadcasting headquarters site at 917-1 Mokdong in Yangcheon District. The project shifts from a knowledge industry center for broadcasting and media companies toward a mixed-use development that retains media-related functions while adding housing. A substantial share of the units is expected to comprise 60-to-80-square-meter homes aimed at single-person households and newlyweds. CBS plans to complete construction permit procedures and break ground within a year. The senior housing will be long-term private rental housing with a mandatory 10-year lease period and will follow Seoul's Senior Safe Housing standards. The plan follows strong demand for nearby Mokdong Yunseul Xi, which attracted 3,788 applications for 651 units, and comes as larger residential officetels gain attention amid high apartment prices and mortgage restrictions. Nationwide officetel transactions totaled 18,035 in the first half of the year, up 8.24% from a year earlier, while transactions involving units larger than 60 square meters rose 21.44% from the second half of last year.
