Basecamp Research has raised $140 million in an oversubscribed Series C round that valued the AI-based drug developer at $800 million. S32 led the financing, with participation from NVIDIA, Anthropic’s Anthology Fund, Catalio Capital Management, the NATO Innovation Fund, the Rockefeller Foundation, Singular and other investors. The London-based company plans to use the proceeds to train a new generation of EDEN biological foundation models and move AI-designed therapeutics toward clinical development, beginning with in vivo cell therapy that reprograms patients’ cells inside the body. Basecamp said its platform combines proprietary biological data, DNA-writing technology and large serine recombinases to design more sophisticated and easier-to-administer cell therapies for cancer, autoimmune disease and other conditions. The company reported strong preclinical results across multiple modalities and disease areas, and appointed former Biogen executive Richard Pearce as chief business officer to expand pharmaceutical partnerships.
