Securitize shares rose as much as 12% Wednesday to a record $14.57, extending gains of about 170% from the August low of $5.39. The rally followed Cantor Fitzgerald’s Overweight initiation and $21.20 price objective, implying roughly 63% upside from Tuesday’s close at $13. Regulatory developments are also supporting sentiment: securities regulators introduced a five-year pilot framework and, on September 17, launched the Innovation Exemption for restricted trading of tokenized National Market System equities on approved digital venues. The framework requires tokenized securities to retain traditional equities’ economic rights and excludes derivatives that only track prices. Securitize provides infrastructure across issuance, registry management, distribution, custody, marketplaces and settlement, and has expanded FINRA (U.S. securities industry regulator) authorizations for its broker-dealer subsidiary. Its partnerships with Cantor Fitzgerald, the New York Stock Exchange, Jump Trading and Jupiter position it to benefit if tokenized markets expand. However, the company faces regulatory, adoption and operational hurdles, along with operating losses, cash consumption, capital-raising uncertainty and a valuation vulnerable to correction if adoption lags investor expectations. The NYSE and Blockchain.com have agreed to pursue tokenized American equities and ETFs, but their initiative still requires regulatory clearance and has not begun operations.
