The XRP Ledger is moving toward native lending through XLS-65 and XLS-66, two proposed upgrades still undergoing validator voting and not yet active on the XRPL mainnet. XLS-65 would introduce Single Asset Vaults, where users pool XRP, issued assets or tokenized real-world assets and receive shares representing their holdings. XLS-66 would use those vaults to support fixed-term loans, with loan creation, repayments and defaults recorded on-chain while borrower assessments and credit checks remain off-chain. The proposed LendingProtocolV1_1 design includes closed-ended vaults, cash-basis accounting and potential first-loss capital from loan brokers. XRPL Commons is encouraging developers to build lending applications, risk tools and secondary markets through its Lending and Borrowing hackathon track in New York on October 24–25. The upgrades need more than 80% validator support for two continuous weeks before activation, so no launch date has been confirmed.
