Meta unveiled $1,299 Meta VR Glasses and the keychain-sized Muse Charm at Meta Connect 2026, broadening a wearable strategy centered on its Muse personal AI agent. The VR glasses are planned for spring 2027, while the Charm is targeted for December with pricing undisclosed. The roughly 100-gram glasses use 5K micro-OLED displays, a tethered compute puck, and eye and hand tracking, while the Charm includes a 2-inch touchscreen, built-in 5G, microphones, speakers and a fingerprint sensor. Meta said only a handful of Charm prototypes exist and that its design remains under refinement; battery life and detailed specifications were not disclosed. JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth said Meta is reorienting Reality Labs around wearables and personal superintelligence, with potential AI monetization beyond advertising through transaction fees or commissions. Meta plans to offer more than 100 glasses across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta by year-end, targeting the more than 2 billion people who already wear glasses, while Unity Software shares rose more than 5% in after-hours trading after the presentation.
