The Nikkei Stock Average opened higher for a second consecutive session on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on September 24. It began at 65,476.44, up 457.49 yen, or 0.7%, from the September 18 close before the extended holiday. The gain briefly exceeded 600 yen shortly after trading began.
