A survey of 5,000 U.S. adults found that Gen Z and millennials increasingly view equities and newer investments as practical wealth-building tools, even as confidence in cryptocurrency has weakened for a sizable share of younger respondents. The latest report identifies Bank of America as the survey provider, while the prior topic record described the findings as part of U.S. Bank's 2026 WealthSurvey. Some 62% of Gen Z respondents and 61% of millennials said the stock market was a more realistic path to wealth accumulation than buying a home. Meanwhile, 48% of Gen Z and 47% of millennials considered newer investments such as cryptocurrency more attractive than traditional choices. Traditional investments nevertheless remained the preferred route for long-term goals among 76% to 79% of respondents. Over the past year, cryptocurrency trust declined for 30% of Gen Z and 28% of millennials, while trust in stocks increased for 33% and 29%, respectively. Earlier survey details also showed Gen Z began consciously building wealth at an average age of 19, ahead of older generations, and that cryptocurrency ownership was four times higher among risk-taking respondents than risk-averse respondents.
